Good time to become a realtor--Why the heck not???
Welcome to Cenla Real Estate! my name is Doug Rogers and I recently took the plunge and became a licensed realtor. The last six months have been interesting to say the least.
My blogging will serve two purposes. First, I will share with folks the trials and tribulations of being a rookie agent (this will be fun)... But more importantly, I hope to help folks understand how the real estate process works from beginning to end. All fields have their specialized jargon, but real estate can be especially daunting to the outsider. But before we get started, a little bit about myself...
I grew up a railroad brat. By the time I was 25, I had moved 16 times!! As a child I knew more about real estate than most adults. One way I would break the ice at a new school would be to guess the price of my classmates (and teachers) homes. As a 10th grader, I helped my biology teacher negotiate an offer on the home of her dreams. Talk about brownie points!
For some reason though I never considered real estate as a profession. Instead I went into education. For the past 10 years I have taught speech communication at the college level. In 2007, I took a job teaching high school speech and history.
Soo.. Currently I teach full time at Avoyelles Public Charter school, teach part time at Northwestern State university, and Louisiana Technical College. And I am finally a Realtor!
